There are 5 steps in the apprentice recruitment process.
1- Application form and resume
Your first step in the process is to complete an application online. You’ll also need to submit:
- A Resume
- A copy of your latest school results/highest education
- Details of previous work experience
- Contact details for two Referees
You will also need to share what your motivation is to become an apprentice in your chosen trade with JPR. Application forms will only be available during the specified apprentice recruitment drive dates.
Your response to these questions helps us select the applicants we believe will be most suitable, and ensures each applicant is assessed on a level playing field.
TIP: Responses are used throughout the recruitment process to short-list candidates so ensure you put effort into your responses!
2- Assessment Centre
The next stage in the process, for those who are successful, is to be invited to attend an assessment centre at our Wacol office.
The assessment centre is approximately 2 hours in duration and tests the following areas:
- Language, literacy and numeracy
- Verbal reasoning
- Colour perception
- Mechanical reasoning
There’s no need to study for these tests, however practice tests are available by searching online if you would like to refresh your skills. Results will be kept confidential and will not be provided to applicants.
3- Interview
If you are successful to move through to the next stage of the apprenticeship intake, you will be invited to attend an in-person interview. This allows us to gain a further understanding of who you are and provides an opportunity for you to tell us more about yourself and ask questions.
4- Pre-Employment Medical and Reference checking
At this stage, you’ll be asked to complete a pre-employment medical examination with our preferred provider. We’ll also ask your permission to contact the two nominated referees on your application about your school and/or work performance and experience.
5- Appointment
If you’re successful, we’ll phone and offer you the apprenticeship verbally confirming your start date, followed by an electronic offer. When you start, you’ll complete our 2-week induction program at Wacol to help you become more familiar with our operations.
